Orly Cogan: “Behind the Lens and Through the Needle”: An Archaeological Reflection on the Feminin

Orly Cogan, A Quiet Rebellion, 2026

Dart Magazine Exhibition Review

"Cogan is an archaeologist, resurrecting ancient archetypes and mythology through weaving together the fabric of past and present, excavating. The rhythmic act of hand-stitching becomes a form of worship and meditation. Down, under, out of sight, and then up again, breaking the surface. Cogan’s hand-stitching symbolizes a katabasis/anabasis of sorts: the hero’s journey. The gesture is small, repetitive, yet each stitch marks a passage between realms." -Brigitte E. O’Neil
